<![CDATA[Getaways by Nicole - Blog]]>Thu, 16 Feb 2017 05:03:53 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[Disneyland Hotel]]>Wed, 15 Feb 2017 19:32:01 GMThttp://getawaysbynicole.com/blog/disneyland-hotelI took my family on our first trip to Disneyland recently. We wanted to get the full Disneyland experience, and to do that we stayed on property at the Disneyland Hotel.

Disneyland hotel is one of the three Disney hotels in Disneyland. It is in walking distance to the parks, or you can just hop on the monorail right outside the resort to get to Disneyland Park. It is conveniently located right next to Downtown Disney.
The resort is a destination in itself. There are great restaurants, Steakhouse 55, Goofy's Kitchen where you can meet your favorite characters for breakfast and dinner, Trader Sams Enchanted Tiki Bar, Tangoroa Terrace, The lounge at Steakhouse 55, The Coffee House and in room dining if you don't want to get out of bed.

If you want to enjoy a day at the hotel, I highly suggest getting renting a cabana and/or relaxing at the pool. There are two retro themed pools with monorail waterslides, two spas and a water play area for the little ones. There are also tons of other activities throughout the day such as movies under the stars, character greetings, for an extra fee you can take advantage of the Children's Activity Center at Pinocchio's Workshop, and they have a great fitness center as well.
There are tons of special magical touches that only Disney does best. There are fireworks in the headboards of the bed that play music and light up at night, there are hidden Mickey's everywhere you look, and those extra special Disney touches that makes you feel like you are in the magic the entire time you are at the resort. I even enjoyed watching the real fireworks from my bed at night.

<![CDATA[Anna and Elsa's Boutique in Downtown Disney]]>Fri, 25 Nov 2016 21:24:46 GMThttp://getawaysbynicole.com/blog/anna-and-elsas-boutique-in-downtown-disney
On our recent trip to Disneyland, we took our five year old daughter to Anna and Elsa's Boutique in the Downtown Disney District in the Disneyland Resort. We were only going to be spending one day in Disneyland Park, and wanted to get the most of it, but still wanted to get the princess experience while we were there. This was the perfect idea! On our first night at Disneyland Hotel, we went over to Downtown Disney to have dinner, but before dinner we made and appointment at Anna and Elsa's Boutique (appointments are recommended). I had brought her Anna dress from home and surprised her with the makeover. They give you the choice of the following for makeovers; Anna, Elsa, and even Olaf! If you have your own dress it only costs $35 for the makeover (which took about an hour) which included, hair, makeup and nail polish. And you get to keep the makeup, brushes and nail polish. Overall, a great deal for a princess makeover at Disney!

<![CDATA[Beaches Negril]]>Tue, 31 May 2016 20:57:54 GMThttp://getawaysbynicole.com/blog/beaches-negrilI recently took my family to Beaches Negril, an all-inclusive resort in Negril Jamaica on the world famous 7 mile beach. Beaches resorts are owned by Sandals resorts and are amazing all-inclusive resorts that cater to families, weddings, couples, you name it! We had a Honeymoon Concierge Oceanfront Suite, and upon arrival we were upgraded to a Caribbean two bedroom concierge suite. It was amazing. We had a room with one king size bed, two trundle beds, a full bathroom and an attached room with two double beds and a bathroom. Both rooms had their own patios overlooking the ocean.
The food at Beaches Negril, was some of the best food I have ever eaten. They have nine restaurants to choose from. And each one is better than the next! From sushi, to jerk chicken, to Italian food, to hamburgers, there is something for everyone.
All food and drinks were included. The bartenders were awesome and were always ready to make you whatever you wanted or to surprise you with a specialty drink. If you have concierge room, they will restock your fridge every day with the drinks of your choice.
They even had cute kids drinks at the bars, my son loved the Superman drink, he was always found with one in his hand.
The activities and entertainment at the resort were awesome. They had two main pools at the resort and a kids pool. The kids pool was behind the kids club, and whenever we went, we basically had our own private pool, because no one was there! They have an amazing splash pad, lazy river and water park for the kids. Make sure you go down the blue tunnel slide for a quick thrill!
Water sports and snorkeling are available at no additional cost, and they have scuba diving as well!
Miniature golf, giant chess, xbox lounge, pool tables, ping pong tables, giant Jenga and much, much more are always available as well.
And I definitely can't forget to mention the Sesame Street characters and Kids Camps at Beaches!
The kids camp is a great place to leave the kids so Mom and Dad can get some alone time. We loved sending our kids there and they loved it even more! Who wouldn't love rocking out with Elmo and baking cookies with Cookie Monster! And in the evening, there were Sesame Street parades, shows, and lots of character interactions.

<![CDATA[Best Caribbean All Inclusive Resorts for Families]]>Mon, 21 Mar 2016 02:53:24 GMThttp://getawaysbynicole.com/blog/best-caribbean-all-inclusive-resorts-for-familiesWhat are the best all-inclusive resort for families in the Caribbean and Mexico? That is one of the questions that I get asked all the time. There are so many great resorts to choose from, and many that cater to families with children. These resorts all include kids clubs, that cater to kids of all ages. The kids clubs keep the kids entertained with games, activities, swimming and arts and crafts throughout the day, while the parents can enjoy some alone time. All-inclusive resorts also include all food and drinks and most of the activities at the resort as well. Here are some of my favorite all-inclusive resorts for families.
1. Beaches Resorts- Turks and Caicos
Beaches Turks and Caicos is an amazing resort. It consists of four villages, the Caribbean Village, the French Village, The Italian Village and the Key West Village. Each village is unique and has it's own restaurants and pools. They have a great kids club that takes kids as early as infants and the best part is, they have Sesame Street Characters! The Sesame Street Characters interact with the kids in the kids club and throughout the resort. You can even pay extra to have a character tuck your kids in to bed at night and read them a story.
The other Beaches Resorts in Negril and Ocho Rios, Jamaica are also great all inclusive family resorts.
2. Azul Beach Hotel by Karisma, Cancun Mexico
Karisma hotels have great all-inclusive resorts for families. They partner with Nickelodeon and have amazing kids clubs and activities. This resort also has swim-up hotel suites. The food is amazing and so are the drinks! They even have a "green slime" drink for kids at their special Nickelodeon character breakfasts.
Karisma is opening up another Nickelodeon themed resort in May 2016 in the Dominican Republic.

3. Club Med Cancun
Club Med Yucatan is a resort in Cancun, Mexico. It is a great family friendly resort that caters to families. They have a mini kids club for ages 2-3 (an additional charge) and the regular kids clubs starts at age 3. They keep the kids occupied with activities including the trapeze, arts and crafts, swimming, nature walks and much more. While the kids are playing, the parents can snorkel, go water skiing, kayaking, play tennis, do the trapeze, or just sit and relax by the pool or the crystal clear ocean. There are three fabulous restaurants on site with amazing food. They have baby stations at each restaurant with special home made baby food, yogurts and milks.
4. Franklin D. Resort and Spa- Jamaica
Who doesn't want a personal Nanny for your vacation? That is what you get when you book at Franklin D. Resort and Spa in Jamaica. Every family gets a nanny during your stay. They are with you all day to help you take care of your kids and to give you a break. This hotel also has great kids amenities, a waterslide, a kids buffet and more! You and the kids will be more than happy here. They also have an adults only restaurant if you need a night to yourselves.
5. The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana
A great family friendly resort in Punta Cana , Dominican Republic. They have 132 one bedroom suites which are perfect for families with little ones. The Family Concierge will assist you with your needs during the stay. Some of the benefits of the family concierge are an Elegant VIP area with personalized check-in/ check-out for all the family but especially for the kids, Family Concierge service all day and special activities (such as tennis classes), Free mobile phone for constant contact with our attentive concierge staff, Kids pool with pool concierge, Private beach area with pool concierge, PS2™, Xbox 360™ or Wii™ consoles in the room (on request), Free high speed internet in the rooms and The Reserve Lounge (WiFi), Turn-down service with milk and cookies for the children and Personalized minibar with drinks and snacks for children. The kids club at this age is from 1-12 years of age and they have many activities for teens and adults as well.

If you have any questions about any of these resorts or would like a free quote, please email me at nicole@marvelousmousetravels.com.

<![CDATA[Sesame Street at Beaches]]>Fri, 18 Mar 2016 19:59:23 GMThttp://getawaysbynicole.com/blog/sesame-street-at-beachesWe took another family trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos. It is for sure, one of our most favorite places on this planet. Our kids are one and four this year and while we were nervous with the one year old that we wouldn't be able to enjoy it, thanks to Camp Sesame (the all-inclusive day care) we were! Every day he would take a nap there, so we didn't have to sit in the hotel room with him. It was awesome. And once in a while we would take advantage of the kids club with our four year old as well. And we didn't feel guilty one bit because she begged to go. What kid wouldn't?! She got to find Rubber duckies with Ernie, dance with Elmo and bake cookies with Cookie Monster. The kids had just as much fun as we did. And to top it off, we did a Sesame Street Breakfast with the characters and the kids had a blast dancing all morning with all of their favorite characters.

<![CDATA[Dolphin Discovery-Isla Mujeres]]>Sat, 12 Mar 2016 22:23:17 GMThttp://getawaysbynicole.com/blog/dolphin-discovery-isla-mujeresIf you ever get a chance to go to Cancun, one of the excursions that I highly recommend is Dolphin Discovery in Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres is a ferry boat ride away from Cancun. It is a beautiful island, and Dolphin Discovery is the only place on that island where you can swim with dolphins in their own habitat (the ocean).
At Dolphin Discovery, they have dolphins, sea lions and manatees that you can interact with (depending on which package you get).
We got the Dolphin Swim Adventure package for our family, which included a kiss from the dolphin, a snuggle with the dolphin, a boogie push and a belly ride. The knowledgeable trainer also showed us many tricks that the dolphin could do and gave us many interesting facts about dolphins. It was such a fun and educational experience. Even my two year old got in the water and interacted and played with the dolphins.
After your dolphin interaction, they have a full bar, a buffet lunch, pools and splash pads to swim on and many other activities and adventures all included in the price.
If you want anymore information on this experience, email me at nicole@marvelousmousetravels.com. I will be happy to help you add this amazing adventure to your next Mexico vacation!

<![CDATA[Club Med Yucatan in Cancun]]>Fri, 04 Mar 2016 20:18:44 GMThttp://getawaysbynicole.com/blog/club-med-yucatan-in-cancunI just got back from a family vacation at Club Med Yucatan in Cancun, Mexico. This hotel is an all-inclusive resort that is a really great choice for families. It is located at the end of the hotel strip on a peninsula. This makes the beach very private and also has amazing snorkeling on the reefs surrounding the ocean.
We stayed in a room in the Aquamarina section of the hotel. It was a family suite with it's own private garden that lead to the ocean. Our room had an additional bedroom and bathroom for the kids, a king size bed in its own bedroom and a beautiful full bathroom with open views to the ocean.
There is a wide variety of entertainment at Club Med. And it is all included! Kayaking, tennis, boating, trapeze, water skiing, nightly entertainment and the amazing kids clubs. There is so much to do and never time to be bored. They also have a full gym overlooking the lake as well as a great fitness schedule.
